HE has been healthy all the while, the last longest fever that I can ever recall is when she is 11 month olds due to Roseola infection. Another high fever till 39 degree celcius is on the day of her 2 years old birthday. After that, she has the most one day low grade fever.
However, 4 days ago, on tuesday night, she suddenly developed low grade fever, the temperature was 37.7-37.8 throughout the night and reach 38+ in the afternoon. I took emergency leave to look after her while HX stayed with babysitter. Since the fever has gone high, I gave her paracetamol syrup, she took it readily. The fever settled a bit for a while, hovering around 37+ still before it rose again in the evening. In spite of that, she still could eat and play. However, this fever was longer than usual, and she refused to take second dose of PCM syrup. Hence I brought her to see Dr Koe. After checking her ear, throat and lung, Dr Koe couldn't find any problem with her except fever, concluding viral fever and prescribed her Ibuprofen syrup.
However, HE couldn't tolerate the syrup, in fact she had projectile vomit after given 2 sips. We tried to mix the syrup with water in the straw cup but she still vomitted. Hubby and I was truly worried, her fever was rising up, reading 38.1 but we couldn't get her to take the syrup. She even rejected sponging. At the end we resorted to PCM supp, she complied. Finally the fever settled for a few hours at night before it rise again 5 hours later. Hence almost every 5-7 hours I needed to force a suppository. Not only that, her symptoms also worsen and she complaint of headache.
On 3rd day, the temperature still swing, hence I got to bring her to see Dr Koe again. Again no problem was found except fever ( it was 38.8!). I had tried to pursue HE to pass urine to rule out UTI, with all the scolding, threatening, begging to no avail. Finally she was willing to sit on toilet bowl but no urine. Without much result, we went home. I was really worried, if the fever still persist, HE need to do blood test. I prayed real hard. Thank God that the fever had finally settled and high fever recorded at Dr Koe's clinic was the last episode. On that very night, after the last suppository insert, HE temperature had finally settled. However, another symptoms appeared....
